Do you love making food and are considering how you can turn your passion into a part-time or full-time business?  Whether you are a cake baker, cake decorator or budding chef, then this is the class for you.

Ms. Cupcake started her business in her home kitchen in south London in 2010.  She wanted to change her career but didn’t have the first clue about how to do it. Sound familiar?  Ms. C has developed the class she wished she could have taken when starting out!

In this class you will learn how to:

  • Set up the business in terms of HMRC
  • Register your home kitchen with your local council
  • Obtain food safety and hygiene qualifications
  • Get your business online
  • Use social media effectively
  • Brand your business and find your unique selling point
  • Employ staff
  • Find customers and a marketplace to retail your goods
  • Get methods in place so that you run your business rather than having it run you!

This information-packed 2 hour seminar led by Mellissa Morgan (aka Ms. Cupcake) will educate and motivate you to get your business off the ground!

Baking Vegan Cupcakes

Baking eggless and dairy free cakes is as simple as simple can be!  In this demonstration class you will watch one of our talented staff bake and ice our famous Victoria Sponge cake, explaining it to you every step of the way. We will discuss the tricks to getting a vegan cake to be light and fluffy and how to replace ‘traditional’ ingredients like eggs, butter and milk. You will also learn the basics to making a vegan frosting and watch how to ice a large cake like a pro! At the end of the class you will be given the recipe to take away with you to try out at home and you will also take home a slice of our freshly made cake!

Cupcake Decoration

Learn how to decorate cupcakes – the Ms. Cupcake way!  In this class we will show you how to fill piping bags, use different types of nozzles to get different effects and how to pipe our version of ‘buttercream’ onto cupcakes.  We will also show you how to roll out sugar paste and make simple flowers to decorate your cupcakes. We will bake the cake bases for you ahead of time and prepare the icing, so you’ll spend all of your 2 hours in the class doing practical decoration work.  This class is open to everyone – we provide all of the equipment you will need, so complete beginners are welcome!  Class size is very limited to ensure you will receive lots of 1-on-1 attention.  At the end of the class you will go home with a yummy box of 6 cupcakes of your own design to show off (and share!) with your friends and family.
