The Albert Kennedy Trust are the national LGBTQ+ youth homelessness charity. They are focused on prevention and early action to provide: safe homes, mentoring, training, advocacy and support to young people who are homeless or living in a hostile environment after coming out to their parents, care givers and peers. Since 1989, Albert Kennedy Trust has supported Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) young people (up to 25 years old) who are homeless or living in a hostile environment in London, Manchester and Newcastle. Their services include supported lodgings, mentoring, training and advice & guidance.
This year’s winter appeal is centred around the theme of helping the young homeless and vulnerable LGBT+ people get off the streets and out of the cold. Everything costs these days and with £25.00 they can keep a young person safe in LGBTQ+ friendly accommodation for a night and with £50.00 we can cover multiple nights of safety, as well as toiletries, mobile phone top-up, food vouchers and travel allowance, so all donations whether large or small can make an incredible difference for a young person. Visit www.akt.org.uk/outofthecold to learn more and to make a donation. Albert Kennedy Trust will also be doing bucket collections at various Tube stations across London on the 18th December.
Throughout December, we will have these specially designed cupcakes in store each day. £1 from each sale will go directly to The Albert Kennedy Trust to support all the work they do.
